At a distance, it’s damn near impossible to tell the difference between M&M’s and Skittles.
Which not a point that many people are keen to make, but I think it’s important all the same.
How come nobody ever wonders why they look so similar? Have you ever grabbed a handful of candies, expecting a milk chocolate treat disguised with a candy shell, only to be hit with that chewy wave of corn syrup flavor?
They are the great pretenders of the candy kingdom, but that’s not what we’re here to talk about.
The real topic is this:
How come all Skittles taste the same?
I am not referring to, say, Tropical or Wild Berries, for these are nothing but variations on a theme.
What I am trying to say is that within a singular package of Skittles, with candies colored red, orange, yellow, purple and green… we are always tasting the same thing. There is zero variation in the flavors, it’s all one mass of sugary whatever-ness.
“Taste the rainbow”, they say.
They should have been clear and said “All at the same time…”
