Fifty whole blog posts! And ten of them interesting!
So this is my fiftieth blog post. I should probably do something special, in order to mark the occasion.
In doing a bit of internet research, I found out that the 50th anniversary is the quote-unquote ‘Golden Anniversary’. A fiftieth blog post doesn’t seem to call for gold, which is, like, one below the final anniversary gift, which is ‘diamond’ at 60. We know that diamond is the ultimate, because the whole wedding process begins with a diamond. That means the 60th anniversary is the final one, because it brings things full circle. Which in turn means that once you do diamond again, there’s nothing left for you to do but die.
Anyway, gold seems a bit lofty for my fiftieth blog post, especially considering that if I had been on the ball in the first place, I’d be closer to 260 posts. Which, is like, Four Diamonds.
So I’m going to have to do a little math here to figure out exactly how I should celebrate. The first year anniversary is ‘paper’, but like I said before, fifty posts doesn’t nearly count as a full year of blogging. And besides, paper is soooo Pre-Internet, isn’t it?
If we take the logical extension of paper as being a thing we write on, and we then take a step backwards (or rather many steps, back to the very beginning), I think we can declare that the proper gift for 50 blog posts is Cave Wall.
